Learn guitar and mantra singing in one weekend – as a complete beginner.
No experience needed. You leave playing and singing your first mantras – at a real concert, open to the public, on Sunday afternoon.
Munich and online — a hybrid workshop. Join us in the room or from wherever you are. The venue in Munich will be announced shortly.
In just two days, you will learn the basics you need to play and sing mantras and bhajans together – even if you have never touched a guitar before. Everyone is also welcome to sing, regardless of experience or ability. No perfect voice required – just come and enjoy making music together.
A mantra is a sound, word or phrase repeated rhythmically, helping attention settle and the mind become quieter. You do not need to believe anything, and you do not need to understand the words.
The repetition, combined with the long, even breathing involved in singing, can create a calming and focused experience.
As children we learned by doing. We picked things up, got them wrong, laughed, and tried again. Nobody asked whether we had talent.
Somewhere along the way that changed. As adults, we become more cautious. We stay with what we already do well, and we quietly decide what we are not the type for. Music is usually one of the first things to go.
But doing something you are not used to can be exactly what makes you feel alive again. It is uncomfortable for about an hour – and then it is exhilarating.
And the confidence comes home with you.
On Sunday, 27 September, at 4 pm, the doors open for your public concert. Not a rehearsal, not just a circle of fellow students – a real concert at the end of a weekend that began with people who had never held a guitar.
This workshop is part of the preparations for the Happiness Festival. If you want to, it can be excellent preparation for the Guitar Ensemble – 108 guitarists playing one song in front of 6,000 people at BMW Park Munich. Participation in the Guitar Ensemble is a separate registration process.
